"I will bring your children from the East and gather you from the West."
Isaiah 43:5
We have access to a large database of children from many different regions of Russia.
Each member of our team has a specialized task, which he is an expert in. This enables us to maximize efficiency and navigate complex international laws.
Bilingual-bicultural staff both in the U.S. and Russia have the knowledge of the workings of the Russian government and allows you the best possible representation both while your dossier is being processed and while you are in Russia receiving your child.
By choosing CCIAA, you receive the best of both world's: superior adoption facilitators with an expertise in Russian adoption law which can be found only at large adoption agencies with the individualized personal attention of a smaller agency.
The Children- Because of the vast number of Waiting Children in Russia it is easy to find the child of your dreams. Children available for adoption from Russia are primarily Caucasian, but may also be of Roma/Gypsy, Tarter, or Asian descent.
Most children adopted from Russia are older infant's age 9-12 months and young toddlers. Approximately 57% of children are between the ages of 1-4 at the time of their adoption, with the median age of 18-21 months. Two unrelated children may be adopted at the same time. Older children are also available with cost reductions for older children and sibling groups.
Requirements to Adopt- Married couples must be married a minimum of one year at the time of application. Singles may adopt and are required to be at least 25 years of age. Maximum age difference of parent and child is 45 years. Homestudy must be conducted and post-placement agreement signed.
The Adoption Process- Completion of your Dossier takes approximately 2-4 months. One your dossier is completed you may start receiving referrals. CCIAA will seek to match your family with a child who will meet the criteria you have provided during the application process. There may be a short wait for referrals of infant and toddler girls but is there is little wait for referrals of boys.
Usually the family will receive a videotape and photo of the children. Along with these items, medical information will be provided for every referral. We recommend you consult with an international adoption specialist to evaluate your referral and we will assist you in locating one. Once you accept a referral, travel usually occurs within 2-4 months. Most adoptions are completed in 9-12 months.
Health- Children in Russia reside in orphanages, which are usually clean and well maintained. Children usually are grouped together by age with of 8-12 children per group. Most children are healthy but some developmental delays may be expected. Participation in our required reading program and researching available resources are essential tools in parenting a child adopted from Russia.
Travel- Most regions require two trips. On the first trip, which is approximately 5 days, only one family member must travel to Russia to meet your child. On the second trip both parents must travel for and are required to attend the adoption hearing but one may return home after the adoption is completed. The second trip generally last between 7 to 14+ days.
This time spent in Russia is truly a trip of a lifetime and provides a wonderful opportunity to get to know your child and experience Russian culture that is rich with history and the arts. Sightseeing may include concerts, the ballet, museums, souvenir shopping, or visiting some of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world.
During your trip bilingual Russian representatives are with you to guide you through the entire adoption process. This includes the local adoption process, accommodations, transportation, translation, and anything else you may need during your stay.
